Linganore High principal gets new job

June 15, 1998

FREDERICK, Md. - Michael Trout, principal of Linganore High School for the past four years, will become principal of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School effective July 1.

Trout will be returning to the school where he launched his career 28 years ago and from which his daughters graduated.

Gov. Thomas Johnson High is set to expand into the space currently occupied by Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School, whose students will move to a new building in September 2000. Trout will be involved in planning the renovation of that space, which will accommodate 500 additional students and is scheduled for completion in 2001.

Trout began his career as a chemistry and biology teacher at Gov. Thomas Johnson. He coached Walkersville's basketball team for six years while teaching science at Walkersville Middle, then became assistant principal at Monocacy and West Frederick middle schools. He served as principal of West Frederick Middle for seven years before going to Linganore.
