Man charged in theft from parents' house

June 05, 1998

A Hagerstown man faces 23 criminal charges after his parents' home was entered and property and credit cards taken while they were in Florida, according to Maryland State Police.

Joseph Allan Williamson, 28, was taken into custody Tuesday by Trooper 1st Class Mike Kretzer. He was released on personal recognizance.

In his report, Kretzer said he was contacted by James and Sharon Williamson in May after they returned from a month-long trip to Florida and found their home at 11549 Selema Drive had been entered and items were missing.

Kretzer's investigation revealed $852 in cash had been taken along with a .22-caliber revolver.

The credit cards were used to make unauthorized purchases of $1,000 at J.C. Penney, $473 at Sears and $275 at Montgomery Ward, police said.
