June 04, 1998

A bicyclist who was struck Tuesday by a car that cut him off remained hospitalized Wednesday, officials said.

Terry Lee Knight, 46, of 525 Maryland Ave., was listed in fair condition Wednesday night, a hospital spokesman said.

Fire Capt. Brian Pile said it appeared the eastbound bicyclist was cut off by a westbound car at the intersection of West Antietam Street and Burhans Boulevard shortly after 6:30 p.m.

The bicyclist was hit by the front passenger side of the car, Pile said. He had a possible broken wrist and a cut on his thigh, he said.

The driver of the car, Kelly Steven Calimer, 21, of 12 Lenwood Park, Shippensburg, Pa., was charged with failure to yield on a left turn, according to Hagerstown City Police.
