Organizers call Boonsboro carnival a success

June 03, 1998

BOONSBORO - Organizers of the annual Boonsboro Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Squad's carnival, held May 22 through May 30, reported another successful event this year.

At Monday's council meeting, ambulance and rescue squad President Mary Jane Blickenstaff thanked council members for allowing them to use Shafer Park for the event.

Plenty of security and police officers posted during the carnival kept problems to a minimum even though the park was packed with people each night, she said.

This year's nine-day carnival featured some big-name entertainment that brought in huge crowds, said Tim Gargana, co-chairman of the carnival committee.

Friday night's rain, the only poor weather during the carnival, pushed the fireworks display up to Saturday night, Gargana said.

Carnival organizers already are planning for next year's event, he said. Anyone with suggestions can call the ambulance and rescue squad at 1-301-432-6979.
