Water line break closes school

June 01, 1998

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - C.W. Shipley Elementary School was closed Monday because of a broken water line.

The break, which left the school without running water, was discovered by school employees before students arrived, according to Jefferson County Schools spokeswoman Liz Thompson. The school's closure was announced through local media, but buses ran as planned, stopping along the way to tell children there was no school, she said.

The cause of the water line break was undetermined Monday, Thompson said.

The line has been repaired and classes will resume today, she said.
