Suns cruise on road

May 31, 1998

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Lorenzo Bagley and Greg Morrison drove in three runs each as the Hagerstown pitching staff continued to dominate the opposition, lifting the Suns to a 9-0 victory over the Charleston Alley Cats.

Pitchers Clayton Andrews (4-3), Anthony Salley and Tim Huff combined on a three-hitter as the Suns won for the fifth straight time. The Suns have pitched 21 scoreless innings overall, and the bullpen has gone 22 innings without allowing a run.

Hagerstown scored in bunches, sending at least eight hitters to the plate in their three scoring innings.

The Suns (32-24) took a 3-0 lead in the fourth, started by Morrison's one-out solo homer off starting pitcher Jose Acevedo (2-4). After Tony Peters walked and Mike Rodriguez and Cesar Izturis each singled to load the bases, Mike Young ripped an RBI single and Jesse Zepeda lifted a sacrifice fly to cap the inning.

Hagerstown moved to a 5-0 lead in the seventh on Bagley's two-run, bases-loaded double.

Morrison followed with a two-run single and Rodriguez reached on first baseman Toby Sanchez's error, which brought in the final run.
