Clear Spring student wins scholarship

May 28, 1998

The Hagerstown Exchange Club has awarded its annual $2,000 scholarship to Sherry Riggleman, a Clear Spring High School student who plans to attend law school.

She also would like to be president of the United States.

The daughter of Larry and Tamela Riggleman of Clear Spring, she is ranked second in a class of 102, with a grade-point average of 4.055. She's won the Most Outstanding Student award all four years at Clear Spring, and was the top Spanish student in her ninth- and 10-grade classes.

She earned varsity letters in tennis, track, indoor track and band and was active in Future Farmers of America and Future Business Leaders of America.

She's worked on student council projects such as the food drive and Red Cross blood drive.

She has obtained an internship in the district office of state Sen. Don Munson.

What impressed the Exchange Club committee was her commitment to return after law school to provide legal service to her fellow citizens and to represent them in the state legislature, Congress and perhaps even in the White House.
