Woman dies in I-70 accident

FREDERICK, Md. - An Annapolis woman died after her car veered off Interstate 70 and struck a tree Tuesday, according to Maryland State Police.

Carol Sue Ravanbakhsh, 55, of 1664 Secretariat Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:10 a.m. crash, police said.

According to police, Ravanbakhsh's 1988 Nissan Maxima was heading east on I-70 near Mount Phillip Road when it veered off to the right of the road.

The car struck a guardrail, traveled across a culvert and then struck a tree, police said. The car overturned and Ravanbakhsh was ejected, police said.

Ravanbakhsh was wearing a shoulder harness but no lap belt, police said.

Authorities said they did not know what caused the crash.
