Local Roundup - Greencastle wins playoff opener

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Megan Williams had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three with a three-run homer to lead Greencastle-Antrim to a 13-3 victory over Mount Calvary in the first round of the District 3 AA playoffs.

Mandy Carr had two hits, including a triple in the sixth that drove in Williams for the final run for Greencastle (13-6). Carr (12-5) also struck out eight.

Andrea Thomas had two hits, including a two-run homer in the team's seven-run first. Greencastle plays Delone Catholic on Thursday at a site to be determined.

Woodpoint 5, Callas 4: Jesse Wyand had three hits and Killeon Miller had two hits for Woodpoint. Corey Waltz had an inside-the-park home run and a three-run single for Callas.

Clear Spring Minor League

Cubs 17, Pirates 15: Jordan Weaver, Josh Bishop and Stephanie Raynard each went 3-for-3 from the plate for the Cubs. Adam Penwell and Ben Courter had two hits each for the Pirates.

West End Little League

Stags 11, Elks 0: David Minor was the winning pitcher and had three hits, including a home run, for Stags.

Federal Little League

Exchange 17, Kiwanis 9: Kevin Brashears had three hits and Nick Mellott and Daniel Zamora had two hits for Exchange. Leo Watkins hit a home run for Kiwanis.

Hancock Little League

Astros 19, Pirates 8: Andy Morris had two hits to lead the Astros and Cody Keefer had three hits for the Pirates.

Conococheague Little League

Post 202 6, Byer's Market 1: Devon Hewitt pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and Mike Donahue had two hits for Post 202. Daniel Moxley had both hits for Byer's.

Sharpsburg Little League

American Trust Bank 17, Company One 5: Luke Hintze threw a one-hitter and Derek Christ, Charles Gross, Luke Hintze, Ryan Collins and Matt Daveler had two hits each for American Trust Bank.

National Little League

Hartles 26, Longmeadow Exxon 3: Ryan Bau struck out 10 and had three hits for Hartles. Justin King had three hits, Bradley Hineman homered and Ben Caffarelli and Jimmy Schenk had two hits apiece for the winners. Brent Staddon had two hits for Longmeadow.

Elks 19, Longmeadow Exxon 13: Chris Reed had four hits, Sean Marriner, Jeff Franklin and David Seibert had two hits and Mike O'Haver homered for Elks. Brett Burger and Brent Staddon had three hits and Rigo Valentin and Patrick Hutzler had two hits for Longmeadow.

Amvets 15, Elks 3: Jeremy McAfee and Adam Dieterich combined on a one-hitter and Tommy Peterson had four hits to lead Amvets. Bryson Appel and McAfee hadthree hits, and Dave Peacher had two hits. David Seibert homered for the Elks' only hit.

Valley Little League

SMRG 13, ICC 3: Drew Crawford had three hits and Matt Morin, Josh Tracey and Miles Chan had two hits for SMRG. Ben Rishel had two hits for ICC.

American Little League

Olympia Trophy 17, VFW 2: Chris Carter and Brian Brickhouse combined on a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Chris Connolly had three hits for Olympia Trophy.

Elks 24, Funkstown Legion 0: Kyle Robinson and Ross Pederson combined on a no-hitter for Elks. Robinson was 4-for-4 from the plate and J.J. Myers had three hits.

Clear Spring Little League

Astros 12, Orioles 2: Rodney Swope had two double and a triple, three RBIs and 11 strikeouts for the Astros. Tommy Statler had three hits and three RBIs and Zach Rector had two hits and two RBIs for the winners.

Hagerstown Pony League

Hagerstown Floors 8, Jeter 4: Steve Miles struck out 10 and Dustin Stipes homered for Hagerstown Floors, and Miles and John Quail had two hits each. Ryan Wingerd, Aaron Davis and Adam Dick combined for 12 strikeouts for Jeter. Davis had three hits and Wingerd had two.

Eagles 10, Fire Fighters 6: Brandon Fling struck out 10, and Matt Johnson and Jeff Decker had two hits for Eagles. Gary Naile had three hits and Adam McAllister, Joshua Norris and Jason Wilcox had two hits for Fire Fighters. Norris, Kevin Mills and Jason Hancock combined for 13 strikeouts in a losing effort.

Senior Interleague

Mr. Hardware (Hancock) 12, FOP (Clear Spring) 7: Jimmy Whiteside had a home run and a double and Leonard Donahue and Creston Ward also had two hits each for Mr. Hardware. Adam Mills had three hits, including a home run and a double, for FOP.

Redmen (Conococheague) 15, WMTA (Hancock) 10: Regis Line had three hits, including a home run, and Jason Smith and Eric Presgraves had two hits each Redmen. Danny Keefer had two hits for WMTA.

Halfway Senior League

Elks 10, Funkstown Legion 8: Matt Reichert and Bryan Royce had two hits for Elks. Eric Fitzgerald two hits, including a three-run homer, for Funkstown Legion.

South County Senior League

FOP 11, Appalachian Builders 7: Stash Ross homered and Billy Sullivan had two hits for FOP.

Valley Senior League

Elks 11, Clear Spring 10: Ryan Harshman and Rocky DiCola each had an RBI double for Elks.
