Brenda Sue Hargett, of 9502 Crystal Falls Drive, could face up to three years in prison and/or $2,500 fines on each of the charges of contributing to the condition of a child, according to records at Washington County District Court.

She also has been served with six criminal citations for furnishing alcohol to minors.

The boys range in age from 16 to 17.

Filed Friday, the charges were served on Hargett this morning by way of criminal summonses. She wasn't taken into custody.

Donna Messina, school board spokesman, said this morning that Hargett was terminated from her job on March 31.

The incidents allegedly occurred Feb. 6 and between March 22-28, according to Deputy Pete Lazich of the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

They came to light March 31 after William Ray, director of human resources at the school board, requested an investigation into allegations that Hargett was having sexual intercourse with at least two students.

Lazich learned through that investigation that Hargett had allegedly hinted to a co-worker that she was interested in the younger boy and that she "felt obligated to have sex with him," charging documents said.

The day after that boy turned 16 in mid-March, Hargett allegedly told her co-worker that she had kissed him in the school cafeteria, charging documents said.

About that time, a teacher moved that boy away from Hargett's desk in the classroom, telling Principal Helen Becker about the situation, charging documents said.

Becker had a discussion with Hargett and told her to stop giving that boy so much attention, charging documents said.

The 16-year-old told Lazich that Hargett would get him out of class for special tutoring in the school cafeteria. During those sessions, he said he would allegedly feel Hargett's breasts and touch her legs, charging documents said.

Sexual relations with that boy and one of the 17-year-olds then allegedly occurred in Hargett's car after a March 22 party for one of the boys, charging documents said.

Hargett allegedly had sexual relations again with the older boy on March 26, charging documents said.

The Feb. 6 incident allegedly occurred in Hargett's car in the parking lot of the school after a basketball game, charging documents said.

Lazich said the other boys allegedly got into her car and drank alcohol which she provided, charging documents said.
