Fort Frederick hosting annual fair and frolic

The fourth annual market fair and rifle frolic, sponsored by Patuxents for the Friends of Fort Frederick, will be at Fort Frederick State Park today through Sunday, April 26.

Gate fees will be $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 12. Admission is free for children younger than 6.

The park will be open today, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All access to the C&O Canal, Big Pool and the campground through Fort Frederick State Park will be closed through April 26. All areas will reopen Monday, April 27.

The public is invited to come and experience life as it was on the frontier from 1640 through 1840. There will be artisans, craftsmen and sutlers amidst a historical encampment.

Maryland Forces, a French and Indian War unit stationed at Fort Frederick from 1756 to 1759, will present a living history program within the fort walls Saturday and Sunday.

Fort Frederick State Park is one mile off Interstate 70, exit 12 (Md. 56), 20 miles west of Hagerstown.
