Hagerstown City Police made an arrest Friday in connection with a shooting in the city's West End on Monday.

Lawrence Jeffers, 19, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged Friday with attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment and first-degree assault, police said.

Police are still trying to find two other individuals believed to have been involved in the 4:27 p.m. shooting in the 900 block of Lanvale Street.

A man was shot in the leg and taken to Washington County Hospital, where he stayed overnight. He left the hospital Tuesday but was not officially discharged.

Police are not naming the victim for his own protection.

Jeffers was taken into custody at 3:45 p.m. Friday by city police officers and agents from the Washington County Task Force, police said.

He was being held at the city lockup Friday night, awaiting an appearance before a Washington County District Court Commissioner.

Police did not have detailed descriptions of the suspects, only that they were black males believed to be in their early 20s and from the New York City area.

Anyone with information can call Detective Mark Holtzman or Detective George Knight at 301-739-8577, Ext. 234.
