A community education forum will be held Wednesday, April 22, at the Sumans Avenue Community Building from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Sponsored by Hot Spot Coordinator Carolyn W. Brooks, educators and staff from the Washington County Board of Education will discuss educational issues, share ideas and answer questions.

Anyone interested may attend.

A clean-up and beautification day in the Jonathan Street neighborhood will be held Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers will clean streets, alleys and vacant lots in the designated area of Franklin Street to Charles Street and Potomac Street to Prospect Street.


The cleanup will be followed by a lunch for participants.

A final planning meeting will be held Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at the Sumans Avenue Community Building. Anyone willing to participate may attend.

The cleanup day is sponsored by the Community Mobilization Committee of the Washington County Hot Spot Initiative. Community members, employer groups, church members and others have offered support and help with the clean-up volunteer teams.
