April 15, 1998

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Two people were slightly injured Wednesday night in a two-car accident on W.Va. 51, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Alan W. Staats, 39, of Kearneysville, W.Va., was traveling east on W.Va. 51 when a car driven by Jana Dee Grantham, 17, of Kearneysville, pulled out in front of him, said Deputy Mark Roby.

Grantham was turning left onto W.Va. 51 from South Childs Road, Roby said.

Staats and a young boy in a child safety seat in the back seat were slightly injured and taken by ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital, where they were being examined Wednesday night.

The boy's name was unavailable.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation, Roby said.
