Women Connecting

The fourth annual Tri-State Women Connecting event will be Friday, April 24, from noon to 4:15 p.m. at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Hagerstown. The afternoon will focus on issues facing professional women at the start of the millenium.

The program is sponsored by local chapters of three professional women's organizations - American Business Women's Assocation, Professional Business Women's Association and ProNet.

Julie Gaver will speak on "The Ripple Effect" during lunch beginning at 12:30 p.m. An instructor for Dale Carnegie Training, a member of Toastmasters International and National Capital Speakers Association in Washington, D.C., Gaver has more than 18 years of professional experience in human services, sales, marketing and public relations.

Workshops on retirement planning, making a first impression, exhibit marketing and managing stress will be presented. All the presenters are local.


"We have the resources," says Christina M. Lundberg, who is on the event's planning committee.

Cost is $25 per person, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, April 15.

ABWA conference in Hagerstown

American Business Women's Association will have its spring conference in Hagerstown, and free, hourlong seminars for businesswomen will be offered Saturday, May 2, at Ramada Inn Convention Center on Dual Highway:

* 9 a.m. - "Developing Your Personal Power"

* 10:30 a.m. - "Getting Control of Clutter"

* 1:45 p.m. - "Understanding the Stock Market"

* 3 p.m. - "Becoming a Confident Traveler"
