CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Mercersburg, Pa., man was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to 15 months in the county jail for beating his wife with a table leg last year.

The jail sentence imposed by Judge John R. Walker included seven years on probation and a $350 fine for Jeffery L. Keith, 34, of 2767 Mountain Road, according to court records. Keith, who was out on bail, was given 320 days of credit for time already served.

Keith pleaded no contest on March 2 to felony aggravated assault in the attack on his wife, Nancy Carbaugh Keith.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Jeffrey Keith and Nancy Keith were at the Roselawn Motel near Chambersburg on March 21, 1997, when he beat and kicked her and repeatedly struck her with a metal table leg. She told police the beating lasted 30 to 45 minutes.

According to Assistant District Attorney Angela Krom, Walker ordered Keith not to have any contact with his estranged wife and ordered him to pay restitution for her medical bills.
