McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Federal and state investigators on Wednesday postponed their investigation into the cause of a fire that destroyed a rural Fulton County, Pa., Baptist church early Saturday morning.
Trooper Thomas Marshall, a state fire marshal who is leading the investigation, said a private insurance investigator was scheduled to check the fire scene Wednesday, but had to cancel. The investigation is expected to continue today.
Marshall and two federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms investigators, plus a trained arson K-9 unit from Harrisburg, Pa., spent all day Tuesday at the scene.
The fire destroyed the Calvary Independent Baptist Church on U.S. 522 about two miles north of McConnellsburg around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. There were no injuries.
