Man sentenced in fatal wreck

April 08, 1998

A Hancock man was sentenced to two years in prison Wednesday for a traffic accident that left a 37-year-old woman dead last year.

Timothy Lee Keefer, 20, pleaded guilty to homicide by motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. In exchange for the plea, charges of homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated and negligent driving were dropped.

Washington County Circuit Judge Frederick C. Wright III sentenced Keefer to two years for the motor vehicle homicide charge and 18 months to be served concurrently for DWI.

Keefer was driving on Md. 144 with Rebecca Elaine Faith at 1:47 a.m. on Jan. 17, 1997, when he lost control of his 1989 Ford Mustang, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department report.
