Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Hi Mail Call. I'd just like to say congratulations Pappy on a job well done."

"I saw in the paper where someone else has the water problem. We have neighbors that run their sump pump down on us even when it isn't raining. We get ALL the rain and there's nothing the county will do."

"Hey Tommy from Kim's Nails, where oh where have you gone? I went to have my nails done last week only to find out that you are no longer there. It was a very, very sad day because I really like the way you do my nails and now they're looking pretty bad. Please let us know where you've gone because I'll be there in a flash. No one can do nails like you so please let us know, we'll follow you anywhere."

"I've made quite a few fairly intelligent calls to Mail Call but I've never had one of my calls published in Mail Call and I believe I know why. I publicly accused the editors of Mail Call of being of the subversive alien life form conspiracy. Their goal is to make the citizens of Hagerstown and the surrounding areas look bad. They try to accomplish their goal by printing 100 percent of the petty, inane and hateful calls they receive. Then they try to cover their tracks by printing a smattering of intelligent calls. Editors of Mail Call, come forward and admit your wicked agenda."

"Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports that both boys and girls can enjoy and parents can get involved in by volunteering to help in many ways. This is a family oriented game that parents can also get exercise by playing and practicing themselves with their children. Today more than 13 million children ages 6 to 17 play soccer in the United States and more than 5 million are girls. Soccer instills confidence, teaches competitiveness and is great fitness because the players run constantly. This information should give the committee which is trying to decide what to do with the fairground land something to think about. Thanks for listening."

"My message is when driving the highway, when you come to a stop remember the cars driving at 50 to 60 miles per hour cannot stop like in town where they are only going 25 to 30 mph. Stop and wait a minute. It takes that minute for the car to go past. Why is everyone in such a hurry?"

"Yes Mail Call. I found a rub-off DeCasho Doubler ticket worth $50 that blew into my yard. I don't need it so if someone lost it, they can call in and if you don't call in a few days I will turn it over to a charity."

"Will someone please tell me why a cup of coffee is so high in the restaurants? Outrageous! Thank you."

"Monday's Mail Call and the call in pertaining to the bricks around the square, he gets my vote. I, too, have been one that was discouraged or claimed to that bricks were no longer permitted or used in Hagerstown for sidewalks by the City Hall, strongly urged by the City Hall to use concrete. The bricks you slip on, you stumble over them, etc., etc. But at one time the town had beautiful brick sidewalks as well as beautiful European-style cobblestone streets. Beautiful! But they felt that blacktop was nicer, safer and so forth, but we find that the things that were in the past used are still beautiful and practical and should still be used. Your modern day ordinances and laws are off base. They should get with it and put things back the way they used to be when they were beautiful and feasible. The brick person has my vote again."

"I have a question. Does anyone know how to increase the shelf life of bananas once you get them home? How can you keep them for more than one or two days before they start turning soft and everything? I want to be able to keep them at least a week between shopping trips."

"Yes. I'd like to congratulate whoever is cleaning up the sides of the road along I-81 from the Halfway exit up to State Line. I think it looks 100 percent better and I want to thank all the people that help make Maryland look more beautiful. Thank you very much."

"Hi. I'm calling to find out if anyone knows where you can get railroad ties for free if possible. Please respond to Mail Call and I will be glad to go pick them up. Thank you."

"In regards to police officers putting their lives on the line every day. My daughter works in a convenience store and has been robbed several times. I believe her job is very dangerous also. Think about it."
