The Bowards

Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Boward of Holiday Acres, Smithsburg, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, with a family dinner in their honor at Mountain Gate Restaurant in Thurmont, Md. The dinner was hosted by their son Gary and their nephew Jeff Boward and their spouses, Grace and Jenny; their nephew, Larry Boward; their daughter, Cheryl Nichols, and her husband, Danny, of South Carolina. In the evening, the couple's children hosted an open house at the Boward's home.

The Bowards were married at the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Corderman in Hagerstown by the Rev. Paul Minnick Robinson of Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Boward is the former Charlotte Sparks, daughter of the late Charles M. and Mary Anna Sparks.

Mr. Boward is the son of the late William H. and Emma C. Boward. Mr. Boward is retired from Postal Service, where he was superintendent of the Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, post office.

They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The Kimbles

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kimble of Maugansville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church.

The celebration was hosted by their two daughters, Linda Buchanan and Brenda Myers, and their families. Many family members and friends shared in the celebration.

Mrs. Kimble is the former Ruth Kesner, daughter of the late Samuel and Audrey Kesner.

Mr. Kimble is the son of the late Adam and Louvene Kimble. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He retired in 1989 from Fairchild Corp. after 21 years, and from Fort Ritchie after 19 years.

They have three grandchildren.

The Wagners

Mr. and Mrs. George A. Wagner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise celebration Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Venice Inn in Hagerstown.

The celebration was hosted by their three sons and their spouses, George Wagner and Claire Sherman of New Milford, N.J., Randall and Patricia Wagner of Williamsport and Gerard and Vicky Wagner of Hagerstown. Approximately 60 people, including family, friends and relatives attended.

The Wagners were married Jan. 9, 1948, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Simon Kenny.

Mrs. Wagner is the former Genevieve Strait.

Mr. Wagner was employed with Fairchild Aircraft and Mack Trucks of Hagerstown. He retired from Mack Truck in May 1979. He has been a projectionist for The Maryland Theatre since 1935.

They have six grandchildren.
