Ballerina Irina Boitsova, 38, died Monday, March 9, in Wilmington, Del., as the result of a car accident.
Boitsova, a member of the International Ballet Theater in Wilmington, a touring company of Russian dancers, danced the dual roles of the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company's production of "The Nutcracker" at The Maryland Theatre in December 1997.
Boitsova first performed in Hagerstown in 1990 with the Donetsk Ballet Company at The Maryland Theatre. She taught in City Ballet School's summer program in 1991 and 1992 and planed to return this year.
Lauren Clowser, director of City Ballet School, said Boitsova stayed with her during her visits and was like a part of the family.
