Kindergarten registration set in Jefferson Co.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Children who will begin kindergarten next year or who are entering the school system for the first time in Jefferson County should be pre-registered.

Pre-registration is particularly important since the Jefferson County Board of Education is considering implementing all-day kindergarten in some schools.

In the meantime, children need to begin the registration process.

During the pre-registration and screening process, parents should bring a state-certified birth certificate. An immunization record is also required and should show your child has been immunized for:

* Measles - two doses before kindergarten admission

* DPT - three doses (one dose on or after 4th birthday)

* Polio - three doses (one dose on or after 4th birthday)

* Rubella - two doses before kindergarten admission

* TB test - within four months of entering school
