City, county won't hold meeting
Hagerstown and Washington County elected officials will not hold their monthly meeting this month, said City Clerk Gann Breichner.
The meeting had been set for Tuesday, but council members decided against the meeting, Breichner said. The council has several city matters to discuss and it is still uncertain whether Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II will be well enough to attend Tuesday's council work session.
Bruchey, 39, came home Thursday from the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after undergoing angioplasty Wednesday morning.
An angioplasty is done by attaching a balloon to a heart catheter. The balloon is inflated over the narrowed areas in the heart, pressing any plaque against the vessel walls, according to a technician in the cardiac catheterization lab at Washington County Hospital. The procedure widens the opening and increases blood flow.
