Teens hurt in crash

March 14, 1998

INWOOD, W.Va. - Two teenagers were treated at City Hospital in Martinsburg Friday after the car they were in flipped twice on Interstate 81.

Driver Bethany Calkins, 18, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and her passenger, Tyson Puffhammer, 18, of Baldwinsville, N.Y., were released shortly after the 11:37 a.m. accident.

West Virginia State Police said Calkins was driving a 1991 Geo Storm northbound in the left lane of I-81 when the car swerved into gravel on the edge of the median and went out of control.

The car careened across both northbound lanes near Exit 8 and onto the right shoulder where it flipped twice, police said.
