Franklin Co. jobless rate rises
YORK, Pa. - The jobless rate in Franklin County, Pa., rose nearly 1 percent from December to January, according to preliminary figures released Monday by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
The rate hit 4.8 percent in January, up from 3.9 percent the month before, according to the report. The number of people listed as unemployed went up by 700 to 3,500.
That coincided with a drop in the number of people employed from 69,700 in December to 69,000 in January. The total labor force in January was down by 100 to 72,400 people.
