Woman's body found in city

The decomposed body of a young woman was found in a wooded area along South Burhans Boulevard Monday afternoon, according to Hagerstown City Police.

Police said a Conrail employee noticed the body at about 2:30 p.m. on the west side of the 900 block of South Burhans Boulevard.

Police said they did not know the cause of death.

The body was to be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and time of death, according to police.

The woman was described as white and in her late teens to early 20s. She was between 5 foot 2 and 5 foot 5 inches tall. She had medium to light brown hair, a gap between her front teeth and was wearing an extra large black Fruit of the Loom short sleeve shirt with a "New Orleans Bourbon Street" logo.

She also was wearing a dark green bra, short blue jeans and black shoes.

Police ask that anyone who may have information call Detectives Wayne Shank or George Brandt at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.
