MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A federal grand jury indicted a Harpers Ferry, W.Va., woman Tuesday on seven counts of possession of stolen mail matter, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Shannon Wayne Cotton, 21, faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count of the indictment, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Checks had been stolen from a mail depository on Feb. 2, according to the statement released Friday.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
