What's next for school budget?

Tuesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. - The Washington County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting with the Washington County Commissioners at Smithsburg Middle School. The agenda will be set by the county.

Tuesday, March 17 at 2 p.m. - The board of education will hold a budget work session in the board conference room at the school board's central office. The board hopes to approve a budget at that time.

Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. - The school board will hold its regular meeting in the board conference room at the central office.

Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. - The school board will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget in the auditorium at the Board of Education's central office. The board will meet in work session after the hearing, to discuss any last minute changes members might want to make.

Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. - The school board will present its proposed budget to the County Commissioners in the Kepler Theater auditorium on the Hagerstown Junior College campus.

The board will then wait for a decision by the County Commissioners on how much they are willing to fund. If the county fails to fund the entire package, the board will have to make further cuts.
