Budget experience sought in supervisor
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County President Judge John Walker said Wednesday he will be looking for someone with experience in managing a large budget when he appoints a supervisor to fill a vacancy on Greene Township's board of supervisors.
"I'm going to accept applications until Monday, March 9 ... I want this resolved by the end of March," Walker said. The 15 people who previously applied to fill the vacancy on the three-member board will not have to submit new applications, Walker said.
At the same time, he said he wants the selection process to be as open as possible.
"In the past, I've always appointed a person who is from the same political party as the person who left office," the judge said. In this case he will be filling the vacancy created by the Jan. 17 resignation of Republican Jack Furry, 66, of Fayetteville, Pa.
