Troopers seize 8 pounds of weed

Maryland State Police seized eight pounds of marijuana from a car on Oakleigh Way in a trailer park west of Halfway.

The marijuana had an estimated street value of about $8,000, police said.

Police received a tip about 11:45 a.m. Saturday that marijuana had been placed in to the trunk of a car there, police said.

After arriving at 17012 Oakleigh Way, the troopers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the closed trunk, police said.


Steven Clint Owens, 21, of 17012 Oakleigh Way Lot 52, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police also seized $1,100 in cash found in his pocket.

State Policestop car on I-70

Maryland State Police stopped a car going east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 early Saturday near Md. 66.

Michael O. Ousley, 25, of Frederick, Md., was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, negligent driving and driving on a canceled vehicle registration, police said.

Police received numerous calls about 1:30 a.m. Saturday about a car near U.S. 40 going in the wrong direction.

A trooper spotted the car and attempted to get the driver to stop, police said.

Numerous westbound vehicles had to pull to the right shoulder to avoid an accident, police said.

The driver was stopped about one mile east of Md. 66, police said.

City police reportwoman, son missing

Hagerstown City Police are searching for information on a missing Hagerstown woman and her 5-year-old son.

Virginia Lee Hardy, 45, and her son, Zachary Lee Hardy, was last seen on Feb. 11, police said.

They have not been heard from since, said Sgt. Craig Bakner.

She is described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, he said.

The boy is white, 3 feet, 5 inches tall, 50 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes, he said.

She left in 1997 Dodge Caravan, dark green with Maryland tags 709579M, he said.

Frederick womanfaces drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick, Md., woman was charged with possession of crack cocaine Friday evening by Frederick City Police on the 400 block of West South Street.

C. Denise Demar, 42, was being held pending a bond hearing, police said.

Police spotted a woman with crack cocaine on her about 7:50 p.m. Friday on the 400 block of West South Street, police said.
