A Pedigree Affair to benefit SPCA

A Pedigree Affair, featuring The Fabulous Hubcaps, will be Saturday, Feb. 28, at Ramada Inn, Dual Highway in Hagerstown. The fun begins at 8 p.m.; doors will open at 7:15 p.m.

The event will benefit Washington County SPCA's building fund, according to SPCA Executive Director Shelly Moore.

Tickets, $15 a person or $25 a couple, originally were available at several businesses. They are selling so well that they now are for sale only at the SPCA at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Although there may be tickets available at the door, SPCA's Keller Haden strongly urges people to purchase tickets in advance.

For information, call 301-733-2060.

There will be three 50/50 raffles, and partygoers will have a chance to win a woman's ring - a black star sapphire designed and donated Doug Saum - and a poster of The Fabulous Hubcaps.

Marianne Schneider, SPCA board member and past president, credits restaurateur Charlie Sekula with the idea for the event. Lou Scally will be emcee, and there will be food concessions and a cash bar.

Schneider has seen the Hubcaps perform and says they're lively. Poodle skirts will not be out of order, and dancing - even during the Hubcaps' show - is not discouraged, Schneider says. "It should be fun."
