CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police filed charges against a Shippensburg, Pa., man involved in a pursuit on Thursday in which the driver went through a school yard to evade police.
Travis O. Martin, 18, of 92 Mountain Road, was charged with fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, a stop sign violation and three traffic light violations in connection with the chase, police said.
The pursuit began at 12:09 p.m. when a 1998 Dodge Avenger ran a red light at the intersection of Second Street and Lincoln Way East. According to the report filed by Chief Michael DeFrank, who was involved in the chase, the car was pulled over at the King Street Elementary School.
While the citation was being written, however, the driver fled, driving through the school yard, the report said. The car was chased northward out of the borough, where Pennsylvania State Police picked up the chase.
