Lice treating tips
The Berkeley County Health Department offers the following suggestions for treating head lice:
Treat the entire family when a child comes home with lice.
After using a lice-killing shampoo, such as Kwell or A-200 Pyrinalte, use a comb to remove any eggs remaining in the hair.
Wash clothing, bed sheets and towels in hot water, expose to a hot iron or tumble in a clothes dryer for at least one minute.
Spray upholstered furniture, mattresses and car seats with an insecticide.
To prevent infestation, never share combs, brushes, hats or scarves.
Check children for any signs of lice by separating the hair with a tongue depressor and using a bright light to inspect the area.
