Mary F. Shannon

Mary Frances Shannon, 87, of 1183 Luther Drive, Hagerstown and formerly of 395 Key Circle, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 9, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis F. and Nellie Lee Smith Blenard Sr.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis H. Wiebel III, in 1959.

She was a retired employee of Fairchild Aircraft.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Lewis H. Wiebel IV of Lansdale, Pa.; one granddaughter, Sandra Lynn Roth of East Greenville, Pa.; one grandson, Lewis H. Wiebel V of Lansdale; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shannon, in 1982; a granddaughter, Beverly Ann Wiebel; and a brother, Lewis Frederick Blenard Jr.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Elsie L. Sarvis

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Elsie L. Sarvis, 89, of Chambersburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Virginia Moyer, 14529 Strite Road, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 27, 1908, in Hamilton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob B. and Susan Cauffman Ramer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Sarvis, in 1959.

She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, and the Ladies Sewing Circle.

She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Pearl A. Lehman of Dillsburg, Pa., Carl A. Sarvis of Chambersburg, Ruth Y. Thomas of Johnstown, Pa., Glen A. Sarvis of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Jean L. Pichiya of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, Central America, and Virginia M. Moyer of Hagerstown; one sister, Emma Jane Cover of Chambersburg; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg. Pastor Allen Lehman and Pastor Aldus M. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg; and Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Clyde M. Hoffman

Clyde Martin Hoffman, 90, of 828 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Williamsport Nursing Home, in Williamsport.

Born March 19, 1907, in Mount Lena, he was the son of the late Charles and Nancy Bowman Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Rebecca Hoffman, in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was employed as a supervisor with Potomac Edison Co., retiring after 47 years. He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club.

He was a member of First Christian Church, where he was on the administrative board, taught Sunday school; and was a scout master.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Hoffman of Charlottesville, Va., and E. Eugene Hoffman of Roanoke, Texas; one sister, Louise Wagaman of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jane C. Mason

HALFWAY - Jane C. Mason, 83, of 17138 Virginia Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at her home.

Born July 16, 1914, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Harry Samuel and Anna Isabelle Brinham Carter Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie James Mason Sr., in 1969.

She was employed with Alkahn Label Mill, Williamsport, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.

She is survived by two sons, Paul L. Mason of Greencastle, Pa., and Donald L. Mason Sr. of Halfway; seven sisters, Mary F. Mason, Tempe G. Teach and Lindell M. Hughes, all of Williamsport, Lorraine Dovey, Elta M. Sowers and Josephine Creek, all of Hagerstown, and Audrey Jean Newcomer of Fayetteville, Pa.; two brothers, Eddie Carter of Williamsport and Mel Carter of Marlowe, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
