The chairman of the Washington County Sports Foundation has set March 1 as a target date to have new management in place at the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex, he said Tuesday.
William M. Breichner said to do so, the foundation's board would need to make a hiring decision by mid-February. The foundation operates the city-owned ice rink at Hagerstown Fairgrounds.
There are three finalists for the manager's position, said Breichner, who is a Hagerstown City Council member.
The board also will consider hiring a management service, Breichner said. The foundation might be able to increase revenues by hiring such a firm, he said.
The rink's former executive director, Walter Dill, resigned on Oct. 15, 1997.
Interim Manager Michael Griffith resigned effective Jan. 13 to take a job as an assistant pastor in Southern Maryland.
