CVS site plan approved

A site plan for a new CVS pharmacy in the South End was approved Wednesday night, according to a Hagerstown planning official.

The pharmacy would be built at the northeast corner of South Potomac Street and East Wilson Boulevard, a trustee for the land owner has said.

CVS officials were not available for comment on Thursday.

Central Mitsubishi and Central Isuzu are now at 940 S. Potomac St., but would move once a contract is settled, a dealership official has said.

The 10,000-square-foot CVS building would have a drive-through area for prescriptions, according to the site plan filed with the Hagerstown Planning Department.

There are eight CVS pharmacies in Hagerstown, including one in the South End Shopping Center.

The Hagerstown Planning Commission approved the site plan by a 6-0 vote, said Matt Davis, a city planner. Member Fred Kramer was absent.

The planning commission delayed action on a site plan to expand Summerland Manor until the Feb. 25 meeting, Davis said.

The commission wants to see a traffic study first, he said. The study was a condition placed on the project when phase one of the gated community off Security Road was approved last year, Davis said.
