Carl E. Barkdoll

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Carl E. Barkdoll, 65, of 11726 Kimberly Drive, and of 3161 Old Farmhouse Drive, North Fort Myers, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at his home in Florida.

Born June 8, 1932, in Spruce Creek, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Esther M. Weyer Barkdoll.

He attended Greencastle High School.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He retired from Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, after more than 30 years. Earlier he worked for the former Manbeck Bread Co., Hagerstown.

He attended First United Methodist Church, Greencastle.

He was a life member of Rescue Hose Co. 1 of Greencastle; a life member of Greencastle Sportsman Association; played high school baseball and American Legion baseball; and coached Little League baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Arlene M. McClain Barkdoll; two sons, Brian G. Barkdoll and Bradley E. Barkdoll, both of Greencastle; one sister, Louise Mowen of Greencastle; one brother, Charles E. "Whitey" Barkdoll of Greencastle; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald W. Barkdoll.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Amy I. Knode

WILLIAMSPORT - Amy Irene Knode, 88, formerly of 440 S. Artizan St., who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, was the daughter of the late Carlton C. and Anna Elizabeth Metcalfe Mentzer.

Richard B. Cole

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Richard B. "Rich" Cole, 20, of 13171 Mentzer Gap Road, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, in Glendale, Ariz., as the result of injuries received in an auto accident.

Born June 11, 1977, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Kathy M. Kelley Kreps and Daniel L. Cole.

He was a 1995 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School. He played varsity football and was a member of Waynesboro Colt and Pony Baseball leagues.

He held the rank of airman 1st class in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the 61st Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix.

Prior to entering the service, he worked for three years at Chestnut Logs Restaurant, Rouzerville, Pa.

He was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ.

He is survived by his parents, Robert L. and Kathy M. Kreps of Waynesboro and Daniel L. and Donna M. Cole of Halfway; maternal grandparents, Jack and Helen Snay of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Susan Marie Churchey of Sharpsburg; paternal grandparents, Harry and Elaine Cline of Williamsport; four sisters, Tina L. Kreps of Fairfield, Tricia L. Kreps of Zullinger, Pa., Cheryl L. Whitmore of Hagerstown and Carol L. Cunninghan of Maugansville; three brothers, Thomas L. Kreps and Terry L. Kreps, both of Waynesboro and Darrell W. Huntsberger of California; his girlfriend, Shannon Socks of Hagerstown; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles R. Kelley Sr.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Garden, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hazel A. Knight

Hazel Annabelle Knight, 84, formerly of 228 W. Howard St., Hagerstown, and Charlotte's Home, Maugansville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 9, 1913, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Alice Bingaman Tosten.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellsworth H. Henson, in 1971; and by her second husband, Roy N. Knight, in 1986.

She was employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1973.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizen group.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by three daughters, Delores M. Snyder of St. James, Juanita J. Souders of Hagerstown, and Deborah C. Prue of Olney, Md.; one stepdaughter, Nancy Neikirk of Ohio; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Orville Tosten.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
