Contract is awarded

HANCOCK - The Washington County Commissioners Tuesday night authorized the award of a $390,469 contract to the Department of Social Services to provide additional family preservation and youth services between Jan. 1 and June 30.

The money comes from a new state grant for the county Local Management Board, which is made up of representatives of local social services providers and citizens.

Kristin Grosh, the coordinator of the Office for Children, Youth and Families, said funding for the program next year would depend on how many families are helped by the programs this year.
