Local soldiers served during Spanish-American War

In 1898, 82 privates from Hagerstown comprised Company B during the Spanish-American War. None saw battle.

Company B, along with companies from Frederick and Cumberland, remained on the East Coast, first in Fort Monroe, Va., then Camp Meade, Pa., and Augusta, Ga.
