See New Horizons Band band in action

January 22, 1998

New Horizons Band had its first public performance last November playing Christmas carols for the children's decorated wagon parade and Santa's arrival at Valley Mall.

The performance was received enthusiastically by the people present, and band members changed overnight, according to band director Kate Levy. They went from timidly asking her if she thought they could do it, to wanting more gigs, Levy says.

Performances by New Horizons Band include:

* Our Golden Age Dinner sponsored by Washington County Hospital at the Elks Club in April.

* May 2, 10 a.m. - Older Americans Day performance at Valley Mall

* May 13, 9 a.m. - The band will perform "music to stand in line by" at sixth annual Senior Fair sponsored by Washington County Commission on Aging Inc. at Ramada Inn and Convention Center.
