Grand jury indicts man in ramming of car

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a Harpers Ferry, W.Va., man Tuesday on two counts of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the ramming of a car in which his former girlfriend and another man were riding.

Marvin James McGrady, 18, was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and destruction of property, according to court records.

On the afternoon of Nov. 2, Leslie Vincent and James Pond were driving in a Ford Festiva on U.S. 340 and turned onto Halltown Road, when a car began to follow them, according to charging documents. The driver of the other car was believed to have been waiting for them, charging documents said.

The driver of the second car pulled out behind them and began chasing them, swerving in and out of his lane in an attempt to pass their car, charging documents said.

The assailant rammed his car into the back of the victims' vehicle several times, and then pulled alogside and slammed his car into the passenger's side, police reports said.

The victims' car spun several times, nearly striking a telephone pole, charging documents said.

Afraid to stop, the two drove on to Charles Town and went to the sheriff's department, charging documents said. The assailant drove off, according to charging documents.

Vincent told deputies that she was threatened previously if she did not return to her former boyfriend, according to court records.

The grand jury also indicted the following people on the following charges:

* Richard Alan Lefevre, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, delivery of a controlled substance

* Seawell Clarence Freeland, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, driving while on a suspended license, obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties and improper vehicle registration

* Kevin Lydell Carey, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties, possession with the intent to deliver cocaine

* James Richard Carson, domestic assault, domestic battery, malicious wounding

* William A. Wade Jr., possession with the intent to deliver cocaine

* Roy Ronald Turner, conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana

* Desmond R. Myers, obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties, possesion with intent to deliver a controlled substance

* Warren Taylor, domestic battery, third-offense

* Ronald J. Redman, malicious assault

* June Bunny, delivery of cocaine in a school zone

* Michael R. Hughes, delivery of cocaine in a school zone

* Ernest L. Hester, delivery of cocaine in a school zone

* David L. Bush, delivery of cocaine in a school zone

* Reginald Franklin Page, delivery of cocaine

* Carol L. Luckett, delivery of cocaine
