Naming rights granted for stadium

City officials informally granted the Hagerstown Suns permission Tuesday to pursue naming rights for a new minor league baseball stadium.

Owner Winston Blenckstone can discuss the idea with potential donors, but cannot sign any contracts, City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman said.

Whether there will be a new stadium still has to be decided.

The Suns want naming rights to generate revenue to help fund the construction of a new stadium, General Manager David Blenckstone said.

Blenckstone said he did not have any estimates of how much revenue could be generated. Team officials had no specific companies in mind, he said.
