Morgan County Commission

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Thomas R. Swaim of Berkeley Springs has filed as a Republican candidate for Morgan County Commission.

On Aug. 1, 1997, he was appointed to the commission to fill the remaining 17 months of the late Tom Shufflebarger's six-year term.

Swaim served as sheriff from 1973-77 and as a member of the Morgan County Planning Commission for about 12 years. He has been self-employed as a building contractor since 1977.

State Senate

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Sen. Harry Dugan, R-Berkeley, filed for office on Wednesday with the West Virginia Secretary of State's office.

Dugan was elected to the Senate in 1994, defeating incumbent Sondra Lucht, a Democrat. He serves on the Agriculture, Education, Energy, Industry and Mining, Finance, Labor and Rules Committees.
