Gerry A. Smith

Gerry Ann Smith, 58, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Apt. 715, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 14, 1939, in Athens, Ga., she was the daughter of Paul C. Northcraft of Cumberland, Md., and the late Margaret Elizabeth Fuller Northcraft.

She was an employee of Jim's Always Restaurant for 14 years.

She was a volunteer for National Little League Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Thurman L. Smith; two daughters, Louann M. Ewanick of Boonsboro and Melissa K. Crabtree of Hagerstown; one son, Robin L. Smith of Savannah, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Pastor Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, SanMar.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for her medical expenses, c/o Melissa K. Crabtree, 17 Bethlehem Court, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Phyllis D. Eves

Phyllis Derr Eves, 77, of 11828 Linbar Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born Oct. 3, 1920, in Duffields, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Ames and Sophia Derr Kibler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson H. Eves, in 1989.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one brother, Charles A. "Jack" Kibler, of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Terelyn Norman.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Christopher J. Chantelau will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Elizabeth B. Capaldi

ORLANDO, Fla. - Elizabeth B. Capaldi, 84, of Orlando, and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Columbia Park Medical Center, Orlando.

Born Oct. 16, 1913, in Williamsport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Paulene Mary Geiger Finz.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. William Capaldi; one stepson, Robert Capaldi of Fairfield, Calif.; one sister; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, Md. The Rev. Charles A. Erzkus will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Donald P. Kline Sr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Donald P. Kline Sr., 67, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at his home.

Born May 16, 1930, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Harry Parker Kline and Virginia Shepherd Kline Walters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan D. "Chris" Christner Kline.

He was a retired computer programmer for the IRS in Washington, D.C.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired with 20 years of service.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

He was past commander of the American Legion Berkeley Post 14; member of Loyal Order of Moose Martinsburg Lodge 120; and Robert White Lodge 67, AF&AM.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon D. Hill of Apopka, Fla., and Robin D. Wagner of Martinsburg; one son, Donald P. Kline II of Martinsburg; four sisters, Lenice Garrett, Yvonne "Ebby" Kesecker and Rexine Dickinson, all of Martinsburg, and Sondra Willis of Charles Town, W.Va.; three brothers, Harry "Tuck" Kline and Phillip Walters, both of Martinsburg, and Gerry Walters of Inwood, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ross E. Zeger

QUINCY, Pa. - Ross E. Zeger, 78, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 11735 Ridge Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at the nursing home.

Born Jan. 28, 1919, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph Howard and Blanche E. Rockwell Zeger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mattie Bitner Zeger, in 1984.

He was a 1937 graduate of Mercersburg High School.

He was a lifelong dairy farmer.

He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.

He served as director of the Farm Union's Co-Op of Greencastle.
