County will be reimbursed for bridge damage

Washington County will be reimbursed $68,620 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for repairs to two bridges that were damaged by flooding in January 1996, according to the federal agency.

Concrete box culverts for the bridges had to be replaced because of flooding.

The bridges are on Welty Church Road at Kretsinger Road north of Smithsburg and on Weller Road east of Hancock.

The federal agency has reimbursed the county $380,437 for damages that were suffered during the January 1996 flooding, according to the agency.
