Explorer Post adviser honored

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Charles Town Police Sgt. R.J. James was honored at Monday night's Town Council meeting as Explorer Adviser of the Year for the Shenandoah Council of Boy Scouts.

James directs the Law Enforcement Explorer Post for about a dozen teenagers at the Charles Town Police Department.

The post was founded about two years ago.

Parade to celebrate Chinese New Year

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Chinese New Year will be celebrated with a short parade in Charles Town in front of the Shu Chen Chinese restaurant on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Charles Town Council approved closing the block off for about 30 minutes.

The parade is expected to begin at 12:30 p.m., and is expected to attract about 300 people.
