Digital Imaging, Web Page Design

Hagerstown Junior College is offering two workshops, "Digital Imaging and Illustration: Photoshop" and "Web Page Design," for the spring 1998 semester.

Both workshops are co-sponsored by Dynamic Graphics Educational Foundation (DGEF), a leading training provider for visual communicators. Artists, desktop publishers, designers, illustrators, production managers and others with design responsibilities could benefit from these intensive, hands-on Macintosh workshops.

The Digital Imaging workshop series, scheduled for March 11 to 13, will assist students in the discovery of high-end capabilities of the Macintosh and Photoshop as illustration and color photo retouching tools. Attendees will explore a wide range of advanced manipulation techniques for photos, graphics and video.

The Web Page Design workshop, from April 1 to 3, brings a fast and practical approach to designers for creating Web pages. Participants will learn specific skills to create images and media for online delivery and will consider issues related to Web-based design.

The workshops are taught by industry experts and feature practical techniques for photos, graphics and video using Photoshop 4.0 and a variety of other applications.

Language courses

Hagerstown Junior College's Center for Continuing Education will offer a variety of foreign language and sign language courses starting in January. Students can learn a new language or brush up on one they have studied before.

Classes include French; Gaelic (Modern Irish) Elementary and Advanced; German; beginning Italian; beginning Japanese; elementary Russian; Spanish: Conversational I and II; Sign Language: Basic II and IV; Conversational Signing II; and Interpreting II.

Industrial Tech

Hagerstown Junior College's Division of Continuing Education will offer a wide range of courses in Industrial Technology for individuals looking to update or expand their work skills. The courses begin January and offer various courses in Industrial Maintenance; Electricity/Electronics; Machining Technology; and General Industrial Technology.

Some of the courses offered include Engineering Graphics; Industrial Automation: Electric Motor Control I and II; Basic Electronic Repair and Troubleshooting I and II; Introduction to Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM); and Mathematical Skills for the Workplace.

Repair Tech class

Hagerstown Junior College's Center for Continuing Education has created a weekend Repair Tech program that runs for 12 weeks and provides hands-on computer hardware training in a fully equipped repair lab.

Classes focus on PC and MAC hardware, operating systems, diagnostic procedures, and A+ Certification review. Students have the option of extending classes over several semesters and can supplement classes during the week after signing up for the core classes.

Classes start Jan. 17.
