The League of Women Voters of Washington County will host a legislative breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the South Hagerstown High School cafeteria. The 8 a.m. continental breakfast will give prospective and current league members the opportunity to informally meet with the state legislative delegation from Districts 2 and 3.

The cost for the breakfast is $5. Reservations can be made by calling Cookie McDowell at 301-797-7469. The deadline is Saturday.

The breakfast will be followed by the annual Washington County Legislative Hearing from 9 a.m. to noon in the school's auditorium.




Hagerstown Junior College's Division of Continuing Education is offering a new one-day seminar titled "Temporaries: How to Get Them, Manage Them, Motivate Them." The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. in CP-209.

Issues covered during the seminar will include recruiting temporaries; training, motivating and evaluation; developing effective relations with the provider agency; and handling legalities and liabilities involving regulatory agencies or the union contract. The seminar is based on practical application that is presented in an interactive format.
