Anna K. Silliman

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Anna Katherine Rissler Silliman, 91, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Ranson, W.Va.

Born June 4, 1906, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Anna K. Kable Rissler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dwight Silliman, in 1987. They were married in 1938.

She attended Old Keyhole School, Ranson. She was a 1923 graduate of Charles Town High School; and a graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa. She also attended Strayer Business School, Washington, D.C. She received her master of arts degree in library science from Indiana State University.

She retired from Vigo Co. Indiana Public Library, where she was a librarian. Earlier, she taught fifth grade for eight years, at Wright Denny Elementary School, Charles Town; and also worked for the federal government.

She was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church. Earlier, she was active in Central Presbyterian Church, Terre Haute, Ind., where she was a librarian.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret R. Skinner of Charles Town; and nieces and nephews, Alice Skinner Dyer of Columbia, Md., Elizabeth Skinner Gough, John C. Skinner Jr. and Robert Rissler Skinner, all of Charles Town, Margaret Ellen Miller of Racine, Wis., Leslie Krmtotich of Bloomington, Minn., Paul Dwight Charleton of Woodbury, Minn., Melissa Mukai of San Marino, Calif., and Marion Margraf of Tempe, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary R. Keene; and one brother, Howard C. Rissler.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. William Everhart will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Dorothy C. Koch

Dorothy Claire Koch, 88, of 11338 Lakeside Drive, Hagerstown, and formerly of Jeffersonville, Ind., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at her home.

Born Jan. 7, 1909, in Jeffersonville, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ella Malay Knight.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Koch, in 1979.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Prior to moving to Hagerstown, she was a member of St. Augustine Church, Jeffersonville.

She is survived by one son, John B. "Jack" Koch of Hagerstown; two sisters, Helen Knight and Virginia Stemler, both of Jeffersonville; one brother, Clifton "Bud" Knight of Jeffersonville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two step grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Colleen McCormick.

Services will be at the convenience of the family at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Jeffersonville. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Church Cemetery, Jeffersonville.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Evelyn V. Beall

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Evelyn V. Beall, 78, formerly of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at Avalon Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 21, 1919, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George R. and Fannie I. Sharff Beall.

She was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

She retired from Perfection Garment Co.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Hedgesville Chapter 67, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by one sister, Maxine B. Rash of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Shaffer and Irma Pauser; and one brother, John D. Beall.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Marlowe, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Margaret J. Clemmons

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Margaret J. Dick Clemmons, 82, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at her home.

Born March 10, 1915, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Emma Moss Johnson Sr.

She retired from Perfection Garment Co. Earlier, she had worked for Dunn Woolen Mill.

She was a member of The House of the Lord.

She is survived by one daughter, Harriett Ann Bivens of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, William H. Dick of Martinsburg; one brother, Wilbur Johnson of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
