A 68-year-old Hagerstown man was jailed on $35,000 bond after being accused of having sexual intercourse with his 29-year-old adopted retarded daughter.

The man's name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim, who has the same last name.

Hagerstown City Police reports indicate the woman's sister in May confided to her school counselor the allegations made by her sister.

The teacher reported to Washington County Adult Protective Services, which notified Hagerstown City Police.

Detective Steve Hoover interviewed the woman who alleged that on April 29, she had sexual intercourse with her adoptive father in his bedroom.

The younger sister told Hoover that her sister also alleged there had been an April 20 incident involving oral sex, police reports said.

When the man was interviewed at his home, he first denied the allegations, police said.

Later he admitted having intercourse with his retarded daughter on several occasions, police reports alleged.

The man was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and vulnerable adult abuse, police reports said.

Both daughters were removed from the home.

The man was in custody at the Washington County Detention Center Tuesday evening.
